Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery explained

Oral and maxillofacial Surgeons (OMS) diagnose and treat a wide range of disorders affecting the craniofacial skeleton, jaws, oral cavity and associated structures.

Contemporary OMS have degrees in both medicine and dentistry and this unique background enables them to treat conditions that require expertise in both fields. This includes the management of common oral surgical conditions such as impacted teeth, dental implants, jaw cysts as well as more advanced procedures such as facial trauma reconstruction, head and neck cancer, congenital and developmental facial deformity, salivary gland disease and temporomandibular joint disorders.
